SOME OF MY PHOTOGRAPHIC PROJECTS

Many Spanish coastal towns still have a few fishing boats. It is a hard work. You have to go out every day at dawn and do not always come back with what is shown in these photographs. In fact, many species are no longer allowed to catch and fishing licenses are scarce. In spite of everything, it remains the way of life for many families.

All the senses are important, but what a wonderful thing is the sense of sight! I recently read something about some blind people who takes photographs. I was impressed by the news. I am not blind, but having a big myopia I planned to make a few totally blurry photos, trying to simulate how I see things when I take off my glasses.

Throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the first celebrations of "Moors and Christians" are documented in various towns in the southeast of Spain. They are officialized with the current format in the nineteenth century. Today they are one of the main popular festivals, with all their joy and colorfull.

This work came almost naturally to realize the large number of single people who are in a big city, some because of their work, others because they have no one, and others because they prefer. And being constantly surrounded by other people does not solve the problem of isolation, as we are tired of hearing.

This work tries to express that rainy and windy season, at least in Madrid, in which the leaves are no longer in the trees and the arrival of winter is felt. It has been one of the works selected as "spotlight winner" in the Black & White Magazine 2017 portfolio contest. It has been published in April 2018 issue.

Night lighting in the city offers many opportunities for creative photography with the help of some tricks. Here are some photos simply using a cheap skylight filter in which a little vaseline is spread with the finger. But keep in mind that the way you do it influences the final image. It takes a little practice.

The celebrations of Gay Pride are now a tradition in Madrid. In fact, Madrid has been the organizer of the "World Pride 2017". This work was carried out in the 2016 party. Beyond celebration for the liberties achieved aspect, it is difficult to find another party with such a number of characters and imagination.

On Holy Week a lot of more or less religious processions are carried out in Spain. They are very well known those of big cities like Seville, but those of the small towns have a special charm. San Isidro was an agricultural worker who was born at the end of the eleventh century in the muslim Madrid, who is attributed certain miracles and eventually became the patron saint of Madrid. The San Isidro feast is celebrated on May 15, and many locals dressing their typical costumes attend the acts to dance and have fun.
